With ingredients of a local gin, Vikre Juniper (Duluth, MN) , the amaro Gran Classico, and Cinzano Russo vermouth, I was excited at the prospect of this being a fabulous drink.
It was served at the very popular and highly reviewed Black Sheep Pizza in Minneapolis. The Pizza was great, at this fun and enjoyable restaurant. But sadly this Negroni did not live up to my expectations.
The Gran Classico is a great amaro, and the vermouth adequate for this drink. The proportions were off, the amaro and vermouth were too heavy. overpowered the gin which is probably quite good.
Oh well can't win them all.
