Reaching to the far limits of what might be properly called a Negroni, this magnificent concoction is a thing of extraordinary beauty.
Essentially a white Negroni, which we love, in the color alone clearly on the outer bounds. The delicate, yet distinct and vibrant flavors of each liquid component join in a bouquet of sheer pleasure.
The Recipe"
1 1/2 oz Brooklyn Gin
1 oz Carpano Bianco Vermouth
3/4 oz Cardamaro Amaro
3/4 oz Cere Litchi Juice
Stirred gently in a shaker, with high quality ice, 50 turns, garnished with a slice of lime.
Fabulous!
Cardamaro Amaro
I discovered this Amaro a few years ago at Astor Wine & Spirits in New York City. It was relatively rare then, now I see it popping up all over. Unlike most Amaro that are grain alcohol based this Amaro begins with Mascato wine with the usual secret recipe of botanicals that include cardoon, Roman thistle, ginger, artichoke, etc. It has a nice caramel flavor like sherry and is very approachable, it is great over ice or as a cocktail component. Brooklyn Gin
My daughter brought me this bottle as a gift, it is one of her favorites. She runs a cocktail bar in north western New Jersey and has a great sense for good booze. Produced in small batches by a Brooklyn based company formed in 2010 by Emil Jättne and Joe Santos it epitomizes high-quality small-batch American gin. Made by hand with fresh citrus peels and hand-cracked juniper. They won a double gold medal at the 2015 New York World Wine & Spirits Competition, a gold medal at the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, a gold medal at the 2015 Craft Competition, and 91 points and a rating of “Excellent, Highly Recommended” at the 2015 Ultimate Spirits Challenge. Carpano Bianco Vermouth
Antonio Benedetto Carpano, began the creation of vermouth in Turin Italy in the late 1780's. Here in the US we were hammering out the Constitution at to call the Philadelphia Convention in 1787. Over the decades the Carpano company grew, and today we have some of the best vermouth in the world. More
We love their Bianco that "has a light yellow colour, a fresh and complex aroma and an easily identifiable winey note, in addition to citrussy and exotic fruit flavours. Fresh cocoa beans and almonds complete the bouquet of this delicious vermouth."
